About Us

Since 1980, the Milwaukee Women’s Center has been serving individuals and families affected by domestic violence and co-occurring issues. To ensure the continuation of comprehensive domestic violence services in the greater Milwaukee community, in June 2007 the Milwaukee Women’s Center became a division of Community Advocates.

Who We Serve

Each year, the Milwaukee Women’s Center provides direct services to 1,000 women, men and children and 12,000 individuals call the crisis hotline for information and/or referrals.

Demographics of direct service clients indicate:

  • 80% are women and girls
  • 60% are African American, 30% are Caucasian, and 8% are Hispanic
  • 85% live near or below the Federal poverty level
  • 90% reside in Milwaukee County
